Charles Town, famous throughout history for its anti-slavery stance, is situated on the road from Buff Bay to Newcastle in the Blue Mountains in the Buff Bay River Valley (so named because the slaves were forced to bathe in the buff).

The spectacular Reich Falls (pronounced Reach) are waterfalls and caves set in tropical rainforest at the base of the Jamaican Blue Mountains. Unlike Jamaica’s famous Dunn River Falls due to being off the beaten track they are more often than not deserted!

Jamaica is a beautiful, accessible and safe location (yes safe!) for a birdwatching holiday, with a range of locations as inebriating as Jamaican rum. Between the Blue Mountains and Port Antonio you can usually see almost all of the Jamaican endemics.
